RX 7900 XTX just drifted into RTX 5080 money
Today earns an ad hoc digest because Amazon just erased one of the easiest AMD talking points at the high end. The tracked RX 7900 XTX jumped from $1,499.00 on September 1 to $1,599.00 today, a 6.7% move, while the tracked RTX 5080 held at $1,582.40. When those two land in the same price neighborhood, the clean value pitch for AMD gets a lot harder to make. If you are shopping above $1,500, the page I would open first is RX 7900 XTX vs. RTX 5080.
NVIDIA did not exactly make the midrange any easier to recommend. The tracked RTX 5070 Ti climbed from $1,231.65 to $1,299.95 today, while the tracked RX 9070 stayed at $689.99 and the tracked RX 9060 XT slipped to $507.59 from $519.99. That leaves the current Amazon stack looking top heavy, especially when Newegg still has an exact RTX 5070 Ti listing at $1,169.99 and the refreshed used eBay listing is $980.00. For a saner side by side, start with RTX 5070 Ti vs. RX 9070.
