The RX 7900 XTX lost its value case again
Today clears the ad hoc gate because one of the easiest high end value arguments from last week just disappeared. The tracked Radeon RX 7900 XTX jumped from $1,599.99 on September 21 to $1,899.99 today on its exact Amazon page, an 18.8% one day increase. That is enough to shove it $300 above the tracked RTX 5080 at $1,599.99, which makes the RX 7900 XTX vs. RTX 5080 comparison feel a lot less like a price fight and a lot more like a sanity check.
The workstation shelf moved the same way. The tracked RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell rose from $15,929.99 yesterday to $17,999.00 today, a 13.0% jump on the same exact Amazon listing. That card lives in a different budget universe than the gaming stack, but it still matters because it says the top of the market is getting tighter, not looser, even after a brief break lower.
Everything else that matters to normal buyers mostly sat still. The tracked RTX 5080 held at $1,599.99, the tracked RTX 5070 Ti stayed at $1,199.99, and the tracked RX 9070 XT stayed at $799.50. That leaves today’s refresh with a simple takeaway: the standout bargains vanished, and the cards that did not move suddenly look better just because they refused to get worse.
