The RTX 5090 finally blinked, but the 7900 XTX deal vanished
Today clears the ad hoc gate easily. The tracked RTX 5090 fell from $6,899.99 on September 17 to $4,599.99 today on its exact Amazon page, a 33.3% drop in one refresh. That is still nowhere near sane, but it is finally a real move instead of another high end placeholder. If you were staring at the top shelf anyway, the RTX 5090 vs. RTX 5080 comparison looks less ridiculous than it did yesterday because the spread shrank by more than $2,300.
The workstation side moved too. The tracked RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell dropped from $19,999.00 to $15,999.99, which is a clean 20.0% cut on the exact Amazon listing this site tracks. That is still deep into “only if work is paying for it” territory, but at least the direction changed for once.
The flip side is that yesterday’s AMD bargain did not last. The tracked Radeon RX 7900 XTX jumped from $1,129.99 back to $1,599.99, which puts it right on top of the tracked RTX 5080 at $1,599.99 again. The RX 7900 XTX vs. RTX 5080 comparison just went from obvious value play back to a proper argument, and that is the real reminder from today’s refresh: the weird deals are still showing up, but they are not sticking around.
